Research and development (R & D) includes activities that companies carry out to innovate and introduce new products and services. It is often the first stage in the development process. The goal is usually to bring new products and services to market and improve the company’s bottom line.

Understanding research and development:

The term R & D is largely associated with innovation in both the corporate and government worlds, as well as in the public and private sectors. R & D enables a company to stay ahead of its competition. Without an R & D program, a company may not be able to survive on its own and may have to rely on other methods of innovation, such as mergers and acquisitions or partnerships. Through research and development, companies can design new products and improve their existing offerings.

GALAB’s research and development department:

As a service lab, our top priority is to satisfy our customers and respond to individual requests and concerns. It is important to us to always be on the cutting edge while continuously evolving. Regardless of whether it is completely new analyses, lower limits of quantification or the improvement of existing methods for the benefit of man and the environment. We achieve this through the best and most advanced technologies as well as our commitment to each and every project. 👨🔬 👩🔬

The research and development department works both on internal tasks to increase efficiency and continuous improvement of analyses and on external and individual customer requirements. Thanks to the additional department, all matters can be handled with sufficient attention while guaranteeing routine and timely sample processing.

Recent projects include, for example, the quantification of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in particularly difficult matrices with a very low limit of quantification, as well as the development of a method for allergenic fragrances, taking into account analytes that will be increasingly affected by future regulatory requirements. We are also involved in the PLASTISEA collaboration, in which approaches to solving the urgent problem of plastic pollution in the sea are being investigated.

Artificial intelligence in quality monitoring

Biosensors are central monitoring elements with the help of which quality is to be checked along the supply chain. They are part of smart food packaging, on the basis of which the freshness of the product can be continuously determined and read non-invasively using optical methods.

GlycoBioM – Tools for the detection of novel biomarkers

 

The goal of the GlycoBioM project, which started in January 2011, is to develop tools for the identification and determination of biomarkers in clinical samples and patients.

Single Residue Methods (SRM)

In recent years, there have been numerous methodological advances in pesticide multiple residue methods (MRMs), such as the development of QuEChERS, QuPPe, or SweEt.
