After the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) raised health concerns about the pesticide, the EU Commission terminated the approval of Chlorpyrifos and Chlorpyrifos-methyl on January 31, 2020. As a result, crop protection products are no longer allowed to contain any of these active ingredients.
Since the substance can not be determined with a safe maximum exposure limit, i.e. no toxicological reference value, the EU Commission has now lowered the maximum residue levels (MRLs) to the analytical determination limit of 0.01 mg/kg and reduced the usual six-month period between the entry into force of the regulation and its validity to three months. The new maximum levels will apply from November 13, 2020.
As no further use periods are granted, this is also the sale-off period.
GALAB offers the Pesticides 500Plus® method, a high-performance pesticide multi-method that has set standards. It ensures that goods can be properly checked before they go on sale.
