Perfluorinated chemicals (PFC) are applied in numerous industrial processes, e.g. for textile and leather production because of their dirt and water
The European Commission recently published an amendment to Regulation (EC) №1881/2006, which sets maximum levels for perchlorate. The new values, which differ from the originally determined transition values, will apply across the EU from July 1, 2020.
Overview of the maximum levels of perchlorate in specific foods.
Background
In 2014, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a revised risk assessment on perchlorate. It set a tolerable daily intake (TDI) of 0.3µg per kg body weight and day for healthy adults.
The most recent data and scientific statements have now given maximum values for the foods listed.
Analysis
At GALAB, perchlorate is determined in a single method using LC-MS. With our analysis we reach a limit of quantification of 0.01 mg / kg.
